Where to Play EverQuest Today

Official live servers

EverQuest is still running and getting expansions from Daybreak Game Company. It is free to play with an optional All Access membership. Download it from the official site, everquest.com.

Time Locked Progression servers

Daybreak runs official progression servers that start at the original game and unlock expansions on a schedule, which is the closest official way to relive 1999. Frostreaver (May 2026) and Lethar (August 2026) are the newest. See EverQuest Today for details.

Project 1999

Project 1999 is a free, fan-run server that recreates classic EverQuest “as it was from 1999 to 2001”: the original game, Kunark and Velious. It is not affiliated with Daybreak Game Company, but says it operates under legal permission. It runs three servers, Blue, Green and Red, and has its own rules, setup guide and patch files. Its most recent patch, on September 23, 2026, fixed the Holyforge discipline, reworked archery to scale with Dexterity, and corrected many healing messages to match the era. See project1999.com for details.

Project 1999 stops at Velious, so it has no Vah Shir or Beastlords. To play a Luclin-era race, use Daybreak’s servers.
